It is important to keep the MegaSeg log and the MegaSeg scheduled events list clean. Once you’ve completed this procedure, and after your event has taken place, please remove the file from Mega Seg (step E) and delete your scheduled event (step D).
This procedure assumes you have already transferred a file of whatever it is you want to schedule into your program folder. (see FILE MANAGEMENT ON THE MAC)
Despite the name "import", MegaSeg doesn’t really import anything. It merely captures the location of the file.
This means that the file must be left where it is in your program folder and not deleted or modified until the event has been broadcast.
Step A: CREATE A "SCHEDULED" FOLDER IN YOUR PROGRAM FOLDER
Unfortunately MegaSeg logs all files in a particular folder – which clutters the MegaSeg log. To ensure that it sees only the file you want to schedule to play, create a separate folder in your program folder called "SCHEDULED" and put only the file you want to schedule to play in that folder. See the section called HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN FOLDER IN THE PROGRAM FOLDER.
NOTE: Once you do this and complete the procedure below, do not move that file from the SCHEDULED folder and do not rename it in that folder until the event has been broadcast. If you change the file name or location, or delete the file, MegaSeg won't be able to find it when it comes time to play it.
Click on the "Import" button on left side of MegaSeg window.
Set "Import to Category:" to Scheduled Events. This allows KLOI techs to easily search and find any imported/logged files for cleanup efforts in the future.
Click the "Import Folder" button.
Browse to your Program Folder and then click on the SCHEDULED folder you created in step A. above.
Click "Choose" at bottom right.
MegaSeg will say "Imported files successfully"
Step C: FIND THE LOG FOR YOUR FILE IN MEGASEG AND EDIT THE ASSOCIATED INFORMATION
In the left half of the Mega Seg window click on the CATEGORY button. In the "Browse Categories" window check the box of the category called "Scheduled Events". This will filter out all the other categories.
Find your file in the resulting list. If the list is large, click on the SEARCH button in the upper left of the MegaSeg window and start typing in the name of your file. As you type, the list will become smaller until only your file remains.
Your file should be shown somewhere in the window.
Click on your file to highlight it.
Click the "EDIT" button along the left side of the Mega Seg window
In the "title" field type in the name of your show and the date recorded, for example "Jazz Palette, 13-DEC-2008"
In the "artist" field type in your name
Click the "set" button to the right of the "Categories" field. Click the category for your show (in addition to Scheduled Events). If you don’t currently have one set up for your show, click the "add" button, type in the name of your show in the resulting window, then save.
Click the "ok" button in the bottom right of the window.
Click the "save" button at the bottom right corner of the edit window
The log for your file should still be shown in the left window of Megaseg. Leave it like this for now.
Step D: SCHEDULE AN EVENT TO PLAY YOUR FILE
Click on "Playlist" on the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Select "Events"
Select "Add Event" at bottom left.
In the "Time of Event" section use the "set" button to select a time and a day of the week then hit OK at bottom right of screen.
Check the "Time or Date" screen to ensure that it is set to what you wanted.
Under the "Event Action:" section, select "Insert Track".
Under "Options:" check the "Interrupt Current Track" radio button.
Click CONTINUE on bottom right.
Drag your file from the left window into the box.
Click OK.
Mega Seg will now play your file at the scheduled day/time.
Finally, write down your event on the Scheduled Event log.
NOTE: Please remember to delete the event (Step E) and remove the file from MegaSeg (Step F) after your event has taken place.
Step E: EDIT OR DELETE AN EVENT
EDIT: With the MegaSeg window active, click Playlist on the menu bar at the top of the screen, and then Events. Double-click on the "Date and Time" area and edit it as you want – keeping with the existing convention. Another way to edit is to just delete the event and make a new one.
DELETE: With the MegaSeg window active, click Playlist on the menu bar at the top of the screen, and then Events. Find your event, highlight it, and delete it.
Step F: DELETE THE LOG FOR YOUR FILE FROM MEGASEG
This should be done after your scheduled event takes place.
NOTE: This does not delete your file, it just deletes the LOG from MegaSeg.
In the left half of the Mega Seg window click on the CATEGORY button. In the "Browse Categories" window check the box for the "Scheduled Events" category. This will filter out all the other categories.
The resulting list could be huge. To find your file, click the SEARCH button in the upper left of the MegaSeg window and type in the name of your file or the first several letters. As you type, the list will become smaller.
Your file should be shown somewhere in the window. Move your curser over it and left-click it to highlight it.
Right click on your file and click REMOVE. Note that this only removes it from the Mega Seg log – it won’t permanently delete it unless you also check the box that deletes it from the computer.
